Released in 2009, Picket Fence Cartel found CCM hard rockers Project 86 adopting a patina of prog-tinged stoner metal, dutifully presenting a faith-based equivalent to the art rock hedonism of bands like Queens of the Stone Age, Fu Manchu, and Coheed and Cambria. Wait for the Siren, the group's Kickstarter-funded, Steve Wilson and Andrew Schwab-produced eighth studio album (and first without guitarist, keyboardist, and background vocalist Randy Torres), picks up right where Picket Fence Cartel left off, offering up a 13-track feast that finds the sweet spot between crushing post-hardcore, folk-metal, and straight-up hard rock.
